Fawns Frequently Asked Questions

I cannot click my Fawns HUD, it does not respond!
Make sure you do not have another HUD covering up buttons on the Fawns HUD. You can try typing "Ctrl + Alt + T" and verifying you have no other huds in the way of the Fawns HUD. Believe it or not, this has been a major problem for a lot of people.

I cannot Verify Account / Login to the My Fawns Website!
You will need to click on "Verify Account" on the Fawns HUD in-world on Second Life. After that press "YES" to confirm, and then look in local chat for a password that only you will see. Take this password by copying it and pasting it to the My Fawns Website. Make sure that there are NO additional spaces copied at the beginning or end of the password (a very common problem) and for the Username, enter your full SL name. If you are a Resident Lastname account, then put "Username Resident", if you are not you can just put "Firstname Lastname". It must be with a space separating the 2 names.

Fawns DON'T eat any food? What's the catch...
Fawns don't eat food. Fawns CAN consume Ether, but they don't need to.

Ether-Consuming Fawns breed every 5 days instead of every 8 days like their non-ether-consuming counterparts.
Ether-Consuming Fawns will NOT get sick while consuming ether.
Ether-Consuming Fawns have better chances at newer and more rare content showing up through breeding.
Ether-Consuming Fawns have 7 offspring instead of 5.

My Fawn is "Craving" Ether, what does this mean?
Every 6 hours a Fawn may change it's Ether Status to "Craving" for 15 minutes. After that it will resume being "Satisfied" for another 6 hours. This cycle repeats itself indefinitely, so long as the Fawn has either an Ether Crystal or Ether Reserves available to consume.

If you notice it says Craving for more than 15 minutes but under 6 hours - wait a full 6 hours and you should notice it says Satisfied. Fawns gain heat every 6 hours, so a fawn will not try to consume ether but once every 6 hours. This means if you recently adjusted the ether ON/OFF setting, it can take up to 6 hours to take effect (depending on when the last time your Fawn consumed ether.)

Does Training (racing/dueling) Fawns help get better traits and content?
As of right now, we do not offer any bonus for training fawns. All of the Racing and Dueling is designed to be for fun. You can use these numbers to see how often you duel/race, and see how you compare to others, etc. Currently we do not have any breeding incentives tied to dueling/racing (Training). Will this change in the future? Possibly, but we'd have to make sure there are no ways to exploit as we are very careful with these sort of things. :)

Fawns can get randomly sick? Do tell...
First of all, it's pretty rare for a Fawn to randomly get sick - but the chance is still there.

You will be warned 48 hours ahead of time that the Fawn is starting down the path of sickness (via text notices when you login, and visibly on your Fawn).

If you don't purchase a "Cure Sickness Potion" for L$95 and use it on the Fawn in that 48 hour period, the Fawn will stop gaining heat / stop animating / stop working with Duel Arenas/Race Tracks / etc for 5 full days. After 5 days are up, all is well again, and it will continue to gain heat, animate fully, and work with arenas and tracks and such.

If you didn't manage to use a potion in that 48 hour period, you can always use one during the 5 days of sickness to instantly heal the Fawn.

How do I birth my Unbirthed Fawns (Fawns Logs)?
Make sure you are wearing your Fawns HUD, then click on the Log. On your HUD you will want to be on the "Info" tab where you will find a "Birth" button at the bottom. CLick it! Now the log will start to glow and you will have 60 seconds to click the log once more to finalize the birthing process. This sounds complex but prevents accidentally birthing logs when you did not mean to. :)

What are "Ether Reserves" and how is it different from Ether Crystals?
Ether Reserves are available from the Official Fawns Sim and costs L$9 for 4 Ether Reserves (1 day of Ether for 1 Fawn). It is "magical server ether" which is able to be consumed by any Fawn that is on the ground in the world of Second Life with "Ether Status" set to ON (On means it will consume it, Off means it won't). It won't work on Fawns in your inventory. If a Fawn has Ether Status set to ON, and it cannot find an Ether Crystal around, it will try to consume from the Ether Reserves balance. If you have Ether Reserves the Fawn will consume from there.

Ether Crystals are actual physical crystals you rez down near your Fawn. If you decide to use Ether, you do NOT need BOTH Ether Crystals AND Ether Reserves, just one or the other... we simply give multiple options. The original idea of Ether Reserves was to let breeders buy "backup ether", in case the crystals ever got empty, but many people ditch the hassle of physical items in-world.

How can I hold or run with my Fawn?
Right click the Fawn and add/attach it to "Right Hand" to walk around with your Fawn in your arms. You can also add/attach it to "Avatar Center" to make it run along-side you, allowing you to take your Fawn with you all over Second Life!

You CAN attach more than one Fawn to more than one allowable wear location (IE: You can have several attached to Avatar Center, and just edit them like any prim to have a whole army).

I have a cloned or invalid live fawn or fawns log.
If you have a Cloned Fawn, you can always click the "FIX" button next to it's name on the "Live Fawns" or "Fawns Logs" page on the My Fawns account page.

The easiest way to resolve any other issue is to redeliver it. You can either watch this tutorial video: Redelivery Tutorial Video Or if you don't want to watch the video, you can go to the My Fawns page, and on the dashboard click on redelivery. It should bring up an input field where you can type in the Fawns ID you want to redeliver. Just copy and paste the ID into the field and click redeliver.

To actually receive your Fawn in-world, you will need a redelivery portal which is available at our Official Fawns Sim for free. Just rez it in-world and click it. Once you've done tha just click Live or Log and it should appear in-world above your redelivery portal.

Why is the Starter Log not working when given to others?
When you get a starter crate with unbirthed fawns logs inside, it needs to be rezzed by the first person who "created it" so that our server knows you received it and rezzed it successfully in-world. Only after this can you tranfer it to others. If you happen to have received one of these logs which were never rezzed by the sender (if it was never rezzed, it won't have the Log ID in description and it will tell you it is an "invalid log" as soon as you rez it yourself), send it back to the sender and have them rez it on the ground first and then ask them to transfer this back to you and it should start to work normally.

My female just went from 100% to 0% heat and didn't create a log, or go to expecting mode, why?
This happens occassionally, to resolve the issue quickly, just pick the female in question up into your inventory then rerez her. She should either create a log, or go into expecting mode at this point. It's also good to make sure you always keep the group land tag on when rezzing Fawns, because the Fawn needs access to actually rez the log on the sim when it's time.

My Fawn is "(Expecting)", what does this mean?
If a female Fawn is "(Expecting)", this means it has started the process of creating an offspring (log). In the next 1-3 hours a log will rez on your land, so long as the Fawn has the rez rights to do so. (AKA, if you own the land it should rez no matter what, but if the land is deeded to group or set to group and you are not the owner - you will need to make sure all of your Fawns are set to the same group.)

Can Forever Pets duel, race and earn training points?
Yep! Forever Pets (of any age) continue to gain points for training.

Why did my Fawn turn black and stop moving?
Your Fawn reached its max age, and had all of the possible Fawns Logs that it would ever have. After this happens Fawns will go to the "Void", a place with not even an ounce of light. You can get them to stick around forever and stay out of the Void (being pure black) if you purchase a "Stay Forever Potion" before or after this occurs. This also makes sure the fawn will continue to move around freely in-world, and can be used on Racing Tracks and Dueling Arenas like normal. It WON'T be able to breed after it has hit its maximum age and/or had all of its possible Fawns Logs, but it will do everything else just fine!

What happens if I accidentally deleted a Fawn (to get its points), but now I want it back?
Contact us via support if this was purely an accident (happened within 24 hours).

What's the Web Market?
The Fawns "Web Market" is a free marketplace that lets players list their Fawns for sale for all of the World to see. Users are able to search for the exact type of Fawn they wish to purchase, or be a bit broader on their results, and be able to quickly click an image of the Fawn for more info - or better yet hop on over in-world to see it via the Teleport Link at any time. If a user decides to purchase the Fawn, it will be unlisted instantly to avoid confusion for other potential buyers.

To list your Fawn on the Web Market, make sure you are wearing your HUD, and then click your Live Fawn or Fawns Log, go to "Edit" on your Fawns HUD, and then press "Toggle Market", clicking "YES" again on the HUD to confirm. You can remove it from Web Market by repeating these steps.

Where are the Forums?
We do not have any forums currently.

What's the Fawns life-span?
Ether consuming Fawns will have a total of 7 offspring between a pair.
Non-Ether consuming Fawns will have a total of 5 offspring between a pair.
The simple rule here is - Fawns are able to breed for up to 41 days OR until they've had 7 offspring, whichever comes first.

Fawns consuming ether gain 20% Heat daily, meaning every 5 days they are able to have an offspring.

Fawns that do NOT consume ether gain 12.5% Heat daily, meaning every 8 days they are able to have an offspring.

Fawns will turn solid black and enter The "Void" after they have had their final offspring OR 41 days has passed, whichever comes first. You can keep your Fawn around for good with a "Stay Forever Potion" used before or after they turn black.

(NOTE: Fawns don't actually disappear, they simply turn solid black and stop moving. They will no longer consume Ether in a black void state, so this simply makes your aged fawns easier to manage - so you can choose which to keep around forever and which to leave in the Void.)

Do the Fawns Packs have 1 male and 1 female equally?
This part is still up in the air (AKA we are deciding exactly how we will do it), but for now assume this:

All Fawns Packs ship with a 50% chance at being Male and a 50% chance at being Female. The chance that you might not have perfect equal pairings helps jumpstart the secondary market each time Fawns Packs are purchased, as it encourages you to want to trade/sell/buy with/to/from others right away.

Do Fawns need land to breed?
Yes, it's much easier for people to understand where a Fawn is and what it is doing if you can see it. Plus our Fawns are low Land Impact. This is an SL Breedable Game, so we make sure everything is in SL. Also, since we have a free-to-breed option, requiring land to breed helps the secondary market.

Do Fawns Offspring (Logs) visibily show Male or Female?
Yes you will see if the unbirthed fawn is a male or a female instantly. Male logs have a blue leaf. Female logs have a pink leaf.

Does the HUD cost extra?
Nope, it is completely free, and more-or-less required to use when interacting with Fawns.

How much Ether does one Fawn consume per day?
4 times per day, so 4 Ether Units, which costs just under L$8 in Crystal Form, L$9 in Reserves form.

Do Fawns "cool-down" after they breed?
There is no "cool-down" period, it's simply every 5 days they should be able to breed when consuming ether, 8 days without.

Our answers here are subject to change based on customer response and circumstances not currently foreseen.
